Teens

Pressures on teens can be overwhelming. They often have friends who are struggling with depression or family problems and they wish they knew how to help. Sometimes they feel "responsible" for their friends' health, or their boy/girlfriend's mental health, which weights them down and distracts them from their school work or personal self-care.

And, of course, some teens put huge pressure on themselves to be the perfect student, athlete, or son/daughter. Any "mistake" can make them feel like a failure.

Then there are family problems too. Sometimes a teen is worried about their parent's marriage or feeling invisible because a sibling has special needs, or maybe they just fight with their parents a lot. Maybe they don't know how to negotiate, share feelings, listen, and patiently work through problems with mom and dad, instead choosing to hide in their room or always be out with friends.

Maybe substances are offering quick relief from emotions, or things are getting in the way school work such as fear of failure, time management problems, or learning disabilities. Maybe the phone has taken over their life and they live in a haze of social media alerts.

No matter what's going on, there are answers and reasons for hope. You can overcome fear! You can get excited about the future!  Let's get talking about what YOUR situation is like and what you are willing to try. :)
